The word ‘Complementary’ describes the completion of something, to make it whole.
A Complementary Therapy is often used in conjunction with other treatments and medicines. It has been known for people to be referred through their GP to receive complementary therapies to help with ailments which cannot otherwise be treated using modern medicine or to simply help the patient in dealing with their illness and the related stress.
In some cases, modern medicine will relieve symptoms of an ailment such as in cases of chronic pain and patients can benefit from complimentary therapies as they can help in the management of pain and ease the stress associated with the pain as well as sometimes being able to combat the source of pain through therapies such as Body Massage and Reflex Zone Therapy.
